Groups Using First Baptist Church Building
on a Regular Basis:

NOTE: These groups are independent of the First Baptist Church.  Each
has their own administration and program.  All serve the community.

Hopeworks -  http://www.hopeworkscentral.org/index.html– Provides hope
and help to young people and their families through counseling and education.
Probation Group – under Street ministry

Learning Power – (in addition to what you have) A tutoring service for
elementary students through college.

Our Children’s Center – a non-profit day care housed in our building for the
past 20 years which provides quality, caring for children from infants through
age 5.

Meals on Wheels
– a community based organization that provides meals to shut-
in residents of West Hartford.

Center for Serenity – a counseling group inclusive of many different religious
traditions.

Peace Group – an interfaith group dedicated to understanding and cooperation
focusing particularly on Middle East conflicts and peace.











Exercise Group – this is an aerobics class which meets in the early morning,
three times a week
First Baptist Church is now home to the Early Bird Fitness Club.
Membership is open to anyone, ages 30-80+, male or female, who wants to stay fit
by
exercising three times a week (M-W-F), 6:15-7:00 am.  
Instructor Jerri Lynn (or her Associate) leads a combination low impact routine,
including warm
up, cardiovascular workout, step, abdominals on the floor, and weight
strengthening exercises-all choreographed to great music.

Tai Chi – meets on Thursdays, 1:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall.

E
arth Prayers – an interfaith group whose center is God with a concern for all
creation.  Meets the second Monday of every month at 7:30 pm.

Chinese Baptist Church of Greater Hartford - -The CBC  has an extensive
mission and programs serving the Central CT Chinese Christians and their
families.  Services and programs are in Chinese and in English. See their website

Minister’s Circle – CT Baptist ministers meeting, meets monthly

Covenant to Care – Group helping families arriving to area without funds,
furniture, etc. The congregation is presented with opportunities to help.

International Adoptive Families – support group for families with
international adopted children – occasional meetings

Alcoholics Anonymous Group - meets weekly

Al-Anon Group – meets weekly

The group meetings are the 3rd Monday of each month. Time: 7:pm.
Informative presentations and discussions with open group interaction is the usual
format.
Special interest groups also schedule meetings as desired. All persons with an
interest in computers are invited to attend and join the group. Novice and
advanced users are welcome. There is always time for questions and problem
solving. Informal socialization and discussion is encouraged. Come visit and meet

The German School of Connecticut

The German School of Connecticut provides German language and culture
instruction for children Pre-K-12 and adults in a professional, stimulating and
friendly atmosphere. The school is comprised of dedicated teachers, students and
parent volunteers to teach and learn German and support a variety of school
activities.  Classes are held September to May on Saturday mornings from 9:30 to
12:15.  See our website at

Several other groups use our building on occasion.

In addition, many other groups are supported through our missions and social
action Budget and projects.

Other churches and ABCCONN use our facilities on occasion.
