Sunday Mornings

Middle and Senior High
classes meet during the
Sunday Morning Education
Hour at 11:00 a.m.  Middle
School and Senior High
students meet in 3rd Floor
Classrooms.  In our classes,
we look at biblical texts and
apply them to life, pray and
support one another, and
enjoy fellowship.
SNL: Saturday Night
Live

The Youth Group gathers on
the first Saturday of each
month (October to June) from
5-8 p.m. for Saturday Night
Live at the Church.  This is a
chance for Middle and Senior
High Youth to worship with
Communion, eat pizza (bring
$4 to cover the cost of
supper), and play games
throughout the church facility.
 New friends are always
welcome.
Lock ins and Retreats

Youth need time away from
the demands of everyday, so
a few times each year we
arrange for lock-in overnights
at the church or one– or two–
night retreats.  These
extended times are fun and
relaxing, and also allow us to
explore themes like
“Friendship” or “Change.”
Retreats may be for the
combined group, or be
separate Middle and Senior
High events.
Mission and Service

Middle and Senior High Youth are very involved in the life
of our congregation and participate in a variety of mission
and service opportunities both within and beyond the
local church.  This year we anticipate a special opportunity
for older youth on their own and younger youth
accompanied by a parent to participate in a church-wide,
week-long mission trip to the Gulf Coast during Spring
Break.  We will be helping to raise funds and awareness
throughout the year.

LOU AND STU MASSIE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Endowment Committee is thrilled to announce the establishment of a
$500 annual college scholarship for First Baptist West Hartford members.
This scholarship is funded by a $10,000 gift from Stu Massie.  Stu's parents
met in college and both received scholarship assistance from their
respective Baptist churches.  Stu is looking forward to passing along this
opportunity to future generations of First Baptist students.

High school and college students need to apply by May 1st for the Fall
semester.  Applications can be picked up in the church office.  Service to
the church, community and school will be considered for selection of the
recipient.

We welcome additional contributions to this scholarship fund so that we may
be able to increase the grant amount in the future.
