We are glad you have decided to explore our website. Browse through it
and we will give you an introduction to our community of faith.
We are a Christian community that welcomes all who are seeking to explore
their spiritual lives. In Jesus Christ and his teachings we find the love of
God revealed, and we have decided to follow him.
We seek to live by the moral and ethical principles taught by Jesus as
revealed in scripture, submitting ourselves to God, who is the ultimate judge
of our thoughts and actions. We celebrate our calling as stewards of the
Earth, God’s planet, our home, and we strive for social justice within human
relationships.
We welcome you to visit with us, worship with us, learn and grow with us,
and serve the world with us.

70 Years Ago:
September 16, 1937
From the Church Calendar,
September 12, 1937: The
Corner Stones will be placed
at the new building next
Thursday evening at 7:15
o'clock. Since the time is so
near to that of dedication, only
a brief service will be held. Mr.
Hinton, Mr. Hogdon and the
pastor will have part in the
program and the stones will
be placed by Mr. Griswold and
Mr. Brown. It is hoped that our
people may attend in large
number.
September 16, 2007:
First Baptist Church of West
Hartford celebrated the 70th
Anniversary of Placing The
Cornerstones. Immediately
following Worship, everyone
gathered for a brief ceremony
around the cornerstones of the
church and took this church
photo on the front steps.

Pastor Carr has returned from his sabbatical and has written twelve
essays which include some of the fruit of his four month, 2007-2008
sabbatical as pastor of the First Baptist Church of West Hartford,
Connecticut. They come from his twenty-plus year involvement in issues
related to religion and the environment as well as his interest in studying the
interaction between spirituality and modern science. Please click on the link

First Baptist Memories
As part of the 150th Anniversary Celebration the Historical Committee
is asking members and friends to contribute some of their favorite First
Baptist memories to an Album of Memories that will be kept in the First
Baptist Library.
Dick Pierce has written a history of the last 150 years for the 150th
Anniversary Booklet. You too can help write the history of First Baptist by
submitting some of your favorite memories. It may be a memory of a
Sunday School teacher, a minister, an associate or interim minister, a
sermon, a musical program or soloist, a wedding, a memorial service, a
mission program, a lay person who has done a lot for our church, our
building, a little known part of church history, etc, or you may want to add to
something you read in the 150th Anniversary Booklet.
The purpose of this project is to preserve memories that would
otherwise be lost and to make these memories available for the enjoyment
of others. Good pictures are also welcome.
To participate, please download the form listed here First Baptist
Memories Form complete it and email it to whfbc@yahoo.com. In lieu of
using the computer you may obtain a form from the Church office.
